Description

These modules have been recovered from Nissan Leaf batteries and then partially tested and checked.

Testing Process

  • Initial voltage check to quickly identify weak cells
  • Isolation check to ensure no internal fault causing a path to earth (1000V and >1999mΩ)
  • Internal resistance check (target less than 1.6mΩ per module)
  • Physical examination to check for evidence of damage or failure. Note that signs of swelling are not necessarily indicative of a cell with issues. Some mild swelling is normal for these types of cells. A module is classified as acceptable if it’s outer metal case isn’t deformed.

Note that we are still building our capacity testing process for these modules and so we must rely on the data from the BMS (which is indicative of the weakest module in the battery) to estimate the usable capacity.

Modules are supplied with bolts and plastic covers for the terminals ready for use.
