Nissan Leaf Battery modules for destructive fire testing (priced per usable kWh)

£95.00

Fully tested and guaranteed modules with capacity testing report for use in destructive fire testing.

In stock

Description

These modules have been recovered from Nissan Leaf batteries and then comprehensively tested and checked.
Modules are supplied in bulk for use in destructive fire testing procedures and may be a mixed assortment of module types/generations but are all of the same basic lithium ion type and share the same physical format (noting that gen 3 or 4 modules are “double” the size of gen 1 and 2 modules). Shipping is flat rate for a pallet so if you need a small quantity (eg less than 10kWh) then please contact us for a bespoke shipping quote.

Your order will be accompanied by a report in Excel format showing each numbered module’s type and actual measured capacity. This includes the total capacity for the consignment. Orders will be picked to ensure we always exceed your ordered capacity by a small margin (typically about 0.5kWh on a 20kWh order).

Specifications

  • Module Configuration: 2s2p (2 cells in parallel between the first and second terminals and 2 cells in parallel between the second and third terminals)
  • New capacity: 500Wh (~65Ah)
  • Nominal Voltage per cell: 3.80V
  • Operating Voltage Range per cell: 2.50V-4.20V
  • Recommended Operating Voltage Range per cell: 3.00V-4.15V
  • Maximum Discharge Current: 200A

Testing Process

  • Initial voltage check to quickly identify weak cells
  • Isolation check to ensure no internal fault causing a path to earth
  • Physical examination to check for evidence of damage or failure. Note that signs of swelling are not necessarily indicative of a cell with issues. Some mild swelling is normal for these types of cells. A module is classified as acceptable if it can be fully compressed when mounted.
  • Fully charge each cell
  • Internal resistance check
  • Full discharge test to record the exact module usable capacity (both sets of cells tested separately) over the 4.20V – 2.50V range
  • Charge to 3.80V storage charge ready for you

The results of the capacity and internal resistance testing are written on the module. If the module fails any tests it’s recycled and not available for sale.

Modules are supplied with bolts and machine screws for the terminals ready for use.

Note that unlike other suppliers all modules are tested.
